Continued frantic recruitment efforts often reveal deeper issues, including poor work environment, unsafe working conditions, unhealthy cultures, and toxic leadership.
“Wage increases are nice, but you can only endure unfavorable working conditions for so long,” she said. “The best way to improve trust is through improving working conditions by staffing more nurses at the bedside and working to keep them there.”
Before saying “yes” to a new opportunity, look for evidence the organization and its leaders truly VALUE nurses.
