I just returned from a wonderful week in San Antonio for the 2023 Nurse Educator Summit where I, along with some very special colleagues, led a workshop on “Building Resilient Teams” specifically for Accreditation processes. (More on that later). It also happened that the “Trauma and Resilience in Higher Education” conference occurred on Wednesday. Thanks to Jeanie Tiegten and her amazing team at the Institute for Trauma, Adversity, & Resilience in Higher Education I was invited to speak on “Building a Resilient Academic Team”. Coincidence? I don’t think so……providential:)

This week, the stars aligned and I experienced the most beautiful, well-designed, AND relevant event where like-minded individuals came together in a spirit of compassion to explore the radical transformations needed in #highereducation.

A huge “thanks” to Jeanie Tietjen and her team at the Institute for Trauma, Adversity, & Resilience in Higher Education at MassBay Community College for inviting me to be a part of this extraordinary event! It was truly the BEST planned, organized, and executed virtual event I’ve ever experienced, thanks to the incredible Liz Crawford.

Dr. Bessel van der Kolk wowed and inspired us in his keynote address, followed by many other speakers challenging us to revolutionize the learning experience, understanding the essence of “trauma and resilience in higher education”.
